So, for those of you who do not follow along on Instagram and already know, I had the joy of getting a large vein pulled out of my leg yesterday..while watching. Yes, you are jealous and yes it was quite entertaining, or maybe that was just the laughing gas speaking. And seriously why do they call it laughing gas because theres nothing funny about it. In fact thank goodness it is not always at my disposal because I felt quite...amazing to say the least. So amazing that I didn't even care that a hook similar to the one used to pull hair through a highlighting cap was being used on my leg! Ha they said that I was in control of my pain and to breathe more in when I felt like I needed more. Um we weren't risking getting to that point, so I was about to pass out from inhaling so hard the whole time! I'm thinking about going back and letting them remove anything else they want at this point. Haha OK maybe not but I will say, if you ever get the pleasure of having your veins ripped out ask for the laughing gas, strawberry flavored of course!
For those of you wondering why in the world I needed to do it in the first place, you can thank pregnancy x4!! So this leads me to today's post and me in my wrapped up leg scoring Pinterest for the latest inspirations. Can you tell I have spring fever!?

ReplyDeleteI had mine done a year and a half ago. Mine only popped when I was pregnant and went away when I wasn't, but I knew I was going to get pregnant one more time and didn't want to wear compression stockings for 9 months. Again. Mine weren't stripped. They ran some line up through the vein from my groin and zapped it from the inside out. What made me mad (and still does) is that they completely downplay what the recovery is like. I felt fine when I left, but the next day I looked like I had been beaten with a bat. My leg was black and blue. And it hurt a lot. I couldn't exercise for over a month bc they said it would make them come back. And sleeping in compression stockings? Horrible. Showering in them? Unpleasant. Before the procedure they made it sound like getting a cavity filled. Mildly unpleasant at the time but you are fine by the next day. I almost scheduled it for the day before our trip to Hilton Head bc they made it sound like no big deal. I'm so glad I didn't do that! My first clue was as I was walking out they handed me a prescription for Vicoden. Why would I need vicoden when it's no big deal? I needed Vicoden, and it was a big deal. Liars. Sorry, rant over. I hope you have a better recovery than I did.
ReplyDeleteI had from my knee up to the groin burned out the same way as you a few months back. From the knee to ankle the stripped. For some reason he wanted to do it two different ways and my stupid insurance made us wait several months between. Mine would knot up around my calf and knee but luckily never broke so I don't have and blue veins showing! They didn't give me any pain meds but so far its not been bad..knock on wood!
